WHAT IS CAST URETHANE?

Cast Urethane process uses a master pattern (typically a 3D printed pattern, CNC machined pattern or any other rigid part) to make a soft tool (silicone mold).  Using a two-part liquid resin system, urethane is poured or injected into the cavity of the soft mold to produce duplicates of the pattern. Once cured, these duplicate cast parts can be used as prototypes and in some cases, production parts that simulate injection molded plastic that most designer or engineers are familiar with.

Here at ARM, we specialize in low to medium volume production Urethane Cast parts using our proprietary process called Rapid Cast Manufacturing. This process allows us to produce hundreds to thousands of high, quality production parts in a very short period of time without expensive upfront cost associated with hard tooling (aluminum or steel mold). It also enables us to quickly produce parts that cannot be injection molded or manufactured in other processes but still look and feel like injection molded parts.

First Articles can be produced in as little as one to two weeks, depending on the geometry. The resins we use are very robust and come in a wide range of durometers (hardness). Each with different properties to simulate injection molded plastic. Most of these resins can be cast in any color and texture to match a sample, Pantone number or Mold-Tech number.
